The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), in the heart of the city, is the venue for WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017.
ADNEC is one of the largest exhibition centres in the Middle East, with an indoor and outdoor capacity of nearly 130,000 square meters and a deep water mooring facility. WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 will be the largest and most complex event ever staged at ADNEC.
Officially opened in 2007 by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, ADNEC is distinguished by Capital Gate, a notable addition to the city’s skyline with the world’s furthest leaning tower, more than four times that of the leaning tower of Pisa.
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) will host the WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 from 14 to 19 October 2017. Organized by Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), the event will draw the participation of more than 1,200 competitors from nearly 60 countries.
The 44th edition of the competition Abu Dhabi is the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world. It will represent the first time that the event has been held in the Middle East and will be the largest and most complex event to be hosted at the ADNEC due to the participation of the best technical talents from across the world.
WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 aims to increase the prestige of vocational careers by challenging young people to become the best in the skill of their choice. The competition supports Abu Dhabi’s transition into a diversified knowledge-based economy as envisaged by Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.
