Combining the skills of design, art, typography, typesetting, illustration, printing, and publishing to create graphic designs for both online and printed publications.
Graphic Design Technology comprises many different skills and disciplines in the production of print and/or online publications and products. Individuals in this field are highly creative and client focused, with the ability to listen and communicate well.
Generally, projects include the following stages: research, planning and idea generation, designing and creating the final product, and applying the technical specifications for the intended output media. The practitioner will need to have a solid grasp of the specified printing and production processes.
There are many pathways for an individual with skills in graphic design technology, leading to work in advertising firms, a printing company or a corporate design department. Should one choose to specialize, they can take on the role of graphic designer/artist, illustrator, typographer or typesetter, prepress operator, digital printer, packaging specialist, and many more.

Competitors will be tasked to develop an idea in appropriate industry specific software.
Demonstrating research and planning is an important part of this Skill.
Competitors will be judged on creation of the layout and specific elements of design.
The finished product must be set up with the correct technical specifications ready for online publication.
