Staff and volunteers for the WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017, organized by ACTVET, marked the UAE Year of Giving by handing out dozens of Iftar meals in Mushrif Mall area, Abu Dhabi.
The volunteers were joined by staff from WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 to help distribute 100 meal-packs to members of the public breaking their fast.
Held to mark the Year of Giving, the event gave volunteers valuable experience of working with members of the public. They will be called into action again when WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 takes place from 15-18 October at ADNEC.
“Handing out the Iftar packs was a really rewarding experience, especially to be doing something positive to mark the Year of Giving,” said Meera Al Alawi, volunteer for WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017. “It was also great preparation for the important role we’ll be playing at WorldSkills.”
1,300 competitors from more than 70 countries and 10,000 international visitors will attend the 44th edition of WorldSkills when it rolls into Abu Dhabi in October.
WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 showcases the value of skills and raises the recognition of skilled professionals worldwide. It is also the global meeting place for government, education, industry and association leaders to discuss relevant and important issues related to skills worldwide.
