Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Training (ACTVET) and Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to ensure that Emirati students will take the maximum benefit from World Skills Abu Dhabi 2017, the world’s largest vocational skills competition.

The agreement was signed by HE Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADEC, and HE Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of ACTVET, in the presence of HE Hussein Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, and Simon Bartley, President of WorldSkills.

The MoU establishes the basis of cooperation between ADEC and ACTVET for educational and promotional activities related to WSAD2017, specifically with projects such as Students as Visitors, and the One School One Country partnership.

ADEC and ACTVET also commit to the successful implementation of the One School One Country programme, including cooperation with schools, and media and communications between ADEC and ACTVET.

HE Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi emphasised ADEC's keenness for a strategic collaboration with ACTVET, saying the agreement would give thousands of students from the opportunity to interact with the competition and learn new skills, ensuring future generations would contribute to the vision of the UAE Government for a diversified post-oil economy.

HE Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi said the agreement would promote the importance of technical education and enable Emirati students to choose the right technical and vocational education for their talents and skills, while learning from the expertise of countries taking part in the Competition.

WorkSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

It takes place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 15 – 18 October, with Opening and Closing Ceremonies at the du Arena on 14 and 19 October.
